Emily is a supremely talented editor. I consider her one of the best in the business. I had the pleasure of working with her on a 700-page, high-profile book for Microsoft FastTrack for Dynamics 365. This project had a high degree of difficulty: the manuscript was long and deeply technical, a good deal of the content was written by nonnative English speakers, each chapter was written by a different subject matter expert, and the project timeline was aggressive. Emily’s skillful edits shaped the content into a meaningful narrative that was at once approachable and substantive. Emily asked smart questions and her editorial judgment was sound. Her deep experience as an editor, along with her attention to details of all sizes, resulted in a product that the client was thrilled with. I would gladly work with Emily again!
Emily can be trusted to deliver. She seeks answers in a logical but creative way, and shows respect and intelligence when interviewing people. Emily works easily under supervision as well as left to her own pace and schedule. When we started this project, she hit the learning curve with persistence and mastered the material and style quickly. Her editing skills are superior, and she can move between style sheets without skipping a beat. I hope to have future projects for Emily, and I hope she’s available!
Emily can do it all — writing, editing, coaching. From the first day, Emily proved she was an excellent hire for The Modesto Bee. She is a skilled wordsmith who loves her craft; she thinks like a newspaper reader, asking tough questions about stories and finding the answers. She writes creative, compelling headlines and captions, too. We long have trusted her to handle our slot job, meaning she is the final person to read local stories and approve headlines. Recently, we began training her in our design jobs, and I know that will pay off quickly. Emily’s work ethic is coupled with a lively sense of humor. I only wish she had more hours to give us.
Emily is a diligent copy editor with a keen eye for detail. She works well in a team environment and under deadline pressure. Her intelligence and wit shine through in her work and make her a pleasure to have as a co-worker. She’d be an asset to any copy desk team or editing project.
Emily is a dream employee. She’s eager to learn and determined to do her best. She quickly became a key player on our copy desk. Her eye for detail and grasp of good, clear writing made her a great asset to our operation.
